Lecture by Sören Gottschalch

The lecture focuses on urban growth in China. It examines the housing demand resulting from a social development process of newly arrived Chinese migrants, their families and spouses. The lecture further investigates the sitution and development options of relevant housing quarters in Chinese urban centers. Relating to housing preferences, limitations of housing options and examples from Chengdu, new solutions for migrant housing are suggested.
Since the end of 2013 Sören Gottschalch works as a junior researcher at the Insitute of Regional Development and Structural Planning (Institut für Regionalentwicklung und Strukturplanung (IRS)) in Erkner. He graduated with a B.A. in Real Estate from the University of Economics and Environment Nürtingen-Geislingen and with a M.A. in CHinese-European Economic Studies at the HWR Berlin and SWUFE Chengdu/China.
His research focuses on urban transformation and development processes, urban growth and housing conditions in a Chinese context.
